1) Read the first two articles. Write one paragraph on each summing up the key aspects.

Living and learning in a digital age explores

Periscope and the implements of live streaming looks at the overall aim of periscope but also looks at the privacy, piracy and potential. The are some concerns about the privacy on Periscope as anyone could view the live stream meaning that people's personal lives and location are at risk. User information could be shared across third parties which is a threat to the user. Piracy is also an issue due to people live streaming particular television shows therefore people that haven't paid for it can watch it. However, Periscope could be beneficial for teachers interacting with students, can be used for general interaction between people and also to catch people that may be intoxicated or doing mischief. 

2) Now read the A2 A* essay. Why do you think it was so successful? 

In my opinion, this essay was successful as it had background information about Spotify leading to Spotify being in context throughout the essay. It did not loose focus on the orientation around Spotify. This essay also explore both arguments of the exam question thoroughly and contained sophisticated vocabulary, media language and theory making it well written. 

3) Finally, answer this question in a well developed paragraph on your blog: How has digital media changed your life in the last 5 years (for positive or negative)?

Digital media changed my life in the last 5 years negatively and positively. It influenced my life negatively as sometimes I do not socialise and avoid socialising by going on my phone. This could eventually lead to lose of social skills. Also, sometimes I do not live in the moment as I am recording the event or missing it as I am on my phone. In addition to this, looking at a screen continuously could be bad for my eye health. However, it has impacted my life positively as I am able to stay in touch with relatives that live far away and also I am able to stay in contact with my friends and family. In addition to this, as I am unable to go out sometimes this makes shopping easier as it allows me to be able to do it online. Also, I am able to keep updated on events around me.

Year 13: Weekly New/Digital Media homework Women are allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia.   Telegraph - 26/09/17 This article is about the increasing development of women in Saudi Arabia and the consent that they now have to drive. Also, this article contains the battles and protests that the women have faced in their community as a result of them having to live in the shadow of their male companions. The development of their rights and independence is explored.  Saudi Arabia is the only nation in the world where women were forbidden from getting behind the wheel of a car. There is no formal law banning women from driving but  the government refuses to issue them permits.  The formation of a ministerial body has to give advice within 30 days and then implement the order by June 2018. Rising competitors such as Amazon, Hulu and etc have contributed to Netflix increasing their subscriptions and focusing on Netflix original programmes.   A standard UK plan will rise 50p to £7.99 a month. Premium subscription for four simultaneous users rises £1 to £9.99 a month. The standard US plan increases by $1 to $10.99 a month, with a $2 rise to $13.99 for the premium option. A basic subscription in the UK, which does not offer high definition viewing, remains at £5.99 a month.
