NDM: What's wrong with the internet? Read  ‘Somebody’s watching you: Social media and surveillance’  –  MM52 p13 . Our  Media Magazine archive is here . 1) Summarise the article in 50 words. This article looks at the privacy and "life-spheres" of the internet. It can be seen that privacy could be breached and that people present themselves differently according to who is watching or what media platform they are on. This also covers the cost of data and government surveillance. The government can monitor, track or find out information based on what people post or search up on the internet.  2) Are you worried about companies tracking your online movement? Year 12 - Introduction to NDM: reading and blog task 1) Read the first two articles. Write one paragraph on each summing up the key aspects. Living and learning in a digital age explores Periscope and the implements of live streaming looks at the overall aim of periscope but also looks at the privacy, piracy and potential. The are some concerns about the privacy on Periscope as anyone could view the live stream meaning that people's personal lives and location are at risk. User information could be shared across third parties which is a threat to the user. Piracy is also an issue due to people live streaming particular television shows therefore people that haven't paid for it can watch it. However, Periscope could be beneficial for teachers interacting with students, can be used for general interaction between people and also to catch people that may be intoxicated or doing mischief.  2) Now read the A2 A* essay. Why do you think it was so successful?
